Transcontinental Wins Seven Awards in Custom Publishing

Toronto, November 21, 2008 – Transcontinental Inc.’s recently formed Marketing Communications Sector won a total of seven awards at the 2008 Pearl Awards, the North American competition which recognizes excellence in content, design, digital and strategy in custom publishing. Transcontinental Custom Communications and Redwood Custom Communications are both subsidiaries of Transcontinental’s Marketing Communications Sector.

“We are thrilled to be recognized for our creativity in custom communications and branded content to maximize our customers' reach to their target audience,” said François Olivier, President and Chief Executive Officer, Transcontinental Inc. “Creativity, client service and strategic thinking are the hallmarks of our new Marketing Communications Sector, and we are excited by this early recognition for the work we do.”

Transcontinental Custom Communications was recognized in the Editorial, Design and Strategy categories. Look Good Feel Better, published on behalf of the charity of the same name, was awarded gold for Excellence in Editorial, Best Feature Article and bronze for Excellence in Strategy, Best Achievement in Corporate Objectives. Shine magazine, published on behalf of Dove, earned a silver award for Excellence in Strategy, Best Tie-In with a Corporate Integrated Marketing Campaign and bronze for Excellence in Design, Best Overall Design.

Redwood Custom Communications took home three awards in the Design category. For its client Mazda Canada Inc., it won a silver award for Best Opening Spread. Redwood also took home bronze awards for the following: Best New Magazine for Ridgetop Communications’ Seasons and Best Use of Illustration for Sears Canada’s New Outlook.

Organized by the Custom Publishing Council, the Pearl Awards received 614 entries, representing 70 companies in six countries.
