The First Issue of Vita Magazine Hits the Stands

Montreal, September 18, 2008 – Transcontinental Media is pleased to announce the official launch of the first issue of Vita magazine, which hits newsstands in the Québec market tomorrow. Vita, like its successful English counterpart More, creates content that is relevant to French-Canadian women in their forties. A launch event will take place in Montreal this evening with spokesperson Dominique Bertrand, Quebec personality, as well as the musical group The Lost Fingers.

“Since Transcontinental announced the launch of Vita, the magazine has surpassed its target subscription goals by nearly 80%,” said Francine Tremblay, senior vice president of consumer magazines, Transcontinental Media. ”We were hoping Vita would share the same success as More in Canada, and we’re thrilled that readers and advertisers have responded so enthusiastically. This launch is a celebration of what’s to come.”

As previously announced, Vita will be headed by Sylvie Poirier, formerly editor-in-chief of ELLE QUÉBEC, a Transcontinental publication she was part of for seven years. Chantal Ares is the art director at Vita.

Transcontinental currently publishes the English edition of More magazine in Canada and also provides its readers with an online version at www.more.ca. The addition of Vita builds on the exclusive, multi-year licensing agreement with Meredith Corporation announced in May 2006, and brings Transcontinental Media’s magazine portfolio total to over 40 publications.

At 1.2 million copies, circulation of the U.S. version of More has tripled since Meredith Corporation launched it in 1998. Transcontinental announced its exclusive, multi-year licensing agreement with Meredith in May 2006, the same year More was named Magazine of the Year by Advertising Age. The Canadian version of the magazine received six nominations for the National Magazine Awards in 2007.
