Montreal, June 13, 2008 – Transcontinental Inc. today
announced it has acquired L’Express le journal d’ici,
a French newspaper published every two weeks that serves the
city of Saint-Lin-Laurentides in Quebec. The acquisition brings
Transcontinental Media’s newspaper total to 172 community
publications across Canada, with approximately 250 million
copies annually.
“Transcontinental believes community newspapers such
as L’Express are vital tools in serving communities
of interest,” said Serge Lemieux, General Manager, Newspapers
Group, Transcontinental Media. “We look forward to continuing
to publish a newspaper that is relevant to this community.”
For his part, André Larivière, President and
Editor of L’Express, said, “We believe
that as part of Transcontinental we will be in a position
to offer an even more appealing newspaper to better serve
our readers and advertisers.”
More than 20,000 copies of L’Express are delivered
throughout the community in the Publi-Sac from Transcontinental.
