Transcontinental Acquires Newspaper L’Autre Voix in Québec

Montreal, December 21, 2007 – Transcontinental Media today announced it has acquired the newspaper L’Autre Voix, which serves 13,500 households in the Côte-de-Beaupré region of Quebec. The acquisition brings Transcontinental Media’s newspaper total to 172 community publications across Canada, with approximately 250 million copies annually.

L’Autre Voix was founded by area businessperson Mathieu Tremblay four years ago to give the community a voice that represents local residents and businesses around the area east of Quebec City, including Boischatel, L’Ange-Gardien, Château-Richer, Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, Saint-Joachim, Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague-du-Cap-Tourmente, Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges and Saint-Tite-des-Caps.

“Transcontinental is committed to serving local communities with information that is relevant to them,” said Serge Lemieux, General Manager of the Newspaper Group for Quebec and Ontario, Transcontinental Media. “L’Autre Voix is a very respected community paper and we look forward to being a part of its future growth.”

Transcontinental Media, as the second largest publisher of community newspapers in Canada, publishes daily, weekly, bi-weekly and monthly newspapers in seven provinces: Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Saskatchewan.
