Transcontinental to Print the Seventh Volume of the Harry Potter Series

Montreal, August 17, 2007 – Transcontinental, the largest book printer in Canada, has been chosen by French publisher Éditions Gallimard to print Harry Potter et les reliques de la mort (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows), the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series. This volume has more than 800 pages. Transcontinental is the designed printer for the Canadian market’s French edition, which will be in bookstores on October 26th, the same day as in all other French-speaking countries.

“To have Éditions Gallimard’s select Transcontinental to print the seventh volume of the Harry Potter series is a special honour for us,” said Francois Olivier, President of Transcontinental’s Printing Products and Services sector. “After printing Harry Potter et l’ordre du Phénix in 2003 and Harry Potter et le Prince de Sang-Mêlé in 2005, this is the third volume the Harry Potter series in French that we’re doing, clearly demonstrating Transcontinental’s world-class status.”

More than 250,000 copies will be printed at Transcontinental Gagné in Louiseville, Quebec. This ultramodern printing plant, which required an investment of more than $20 million, opened in June 2006.

“The team at Transcontinental Gagné is enthusiastic to begin production on yet another edition of Harry Potter,” said Jacques Gregoire, Senior Vice President, Book Group, Transcontinental. “Thanks to the new plant's state-of-the-art technology, the team will deliver an outstanding product for the greater enjoyment of the young wizard's admirers.”
