Media today announced its acquisition of Saskatchewan’s
The Oxbow Herald from The Oxbow Herald Ltd. In print
for over 100 years and currently serving a growing population
of over 1250 in SouthEast Saskatchewan, this weekly newspaper
is the latest addition to Transcontinental’s growing

8 other newspapers in the Saskatchewan. The current acquisition
includes the newspapers, the commercial printing operation
and the building in which they are located.

“We are expanding rapidly in Southern Saskatchewan
and today’s acquisition is in line with Transcontinental’s
goal to provide top of the line editorial and advertising
content to more than 65,000 households in 140 communities,”
said Marc-Noël Ouellette, Senior Vice President, Newspaper
Group at Transcontinental Media.
“We are very pleased to include The Oxbow Herald
in our rapidly growing Transcontinental family," said
Rob Clark, Group Publisher for the Saskatchewan newspapers.
"We are also happy to announce that The Oxbow Herald’s
publisher, Ken Pedlar, will remain with Transcontinental and
continue to share his 35 years of experience running Oxbow’s
newspaper."
“Transcontinental is known for its strong commitment
to community life through its hundreds of local newspapers
in Canada,” added Ken Pedlar. “I am confident
that our Oxbow readers will continue to receive high quality
products and services with Transcontinental Media.”
In addition to The Oxbow Herald, Transcontinental
Media’s nine newspapers in Saskatchewan now include
Prince Albert Daily Herald, Moose Jaw Times-Herald
and the following six weeklies and bi-weeklies: The Radville
Star, The Deep South Star, The Triangle
News in Coronach, The SouthWest Booster in Swift
Current, The Grenfell Sun and The Broadview Express.
