Transcontinental’s Canadian Gardening and The Hockey News Each Awarded “Best Magazine of the Year”

Montreal, June 15, 2007 - Transcontinental Media publications Canadian Gardening and The Hockey News were awarded Best Magazine of the Year, while Aldona Satterthwaite of Canadian Gardening received an Editor of the Year award, at The Canadian Society of Magazine Editors 2007 Editors’ Choice Awards held at a ceremony in Toronto.

Canadian Gardening and The Hockey News won in the categories of large and medium circulation magazines, respectively.

“We are very proud to have Canadian Gardening and The Hockey News each recognized as a Best Magazine of the Year by The Canadian Society of Magazine Editors,” said Natalie Larivière, President, Transcontinental Media. “To have two magazines recognized as leaders in their class is truly remarkable. To also have Aldona Satterthwaite of Canadian Gardening receive an editor of the year award only adds to the pride felt by all our employees.”

As Canada’s leading publisher of consumer magazines, Transcontinental produces aesthetically appealing magazines that deliver relevant content to readers in the areas of fashion and beauty, home and garden, sports and recreation, financial and business information, as well as trade publications.

“To have been selected by my peers as an editor of the year is, in many ways, more reward than the award itself, because they understand what it takes to produce a great magazine,” said Aldona Satterthwaite, editor, Canadian Gardening. “All of us at Canadian Gardening are deeply honoured that The Canadian Society of Magazine Editors has recognized the high standards the magazine holds itself to—on behalf of our valued readers.”

Canadian Gardening and The Hockey News are available by subscription and at newsstands across Canada, as well as online at www.canadiangardening.com and www.thehockeynews.com.
