Montréal, April 2, 2007 – Transcontinental Media,
Canada's number one publisher of women's magazines, is pleased
to announce that for 30 days in April, Canadian Living
and Coup de pouce are inviting their readers to sign
up for the 30 day Green Challenge. Those who join the Green
Challenge at CanadianLiving.com
or Le Défi Vert at Coupdepouce.com
will receive a green-living tip every day in April delivered
straight to their email inbox, and will also have the opportunity
to discuss environmental issues with other Canadian Living
and Coup de pouce readers.

Working with Cascades as a partner, the Green Challenge
/ Le Défi Vert is part of a special feature in the
April editions of Canadian Living and Coup de
pouce.
“As we regularly review environmentally friendly products
and offer enviro tips in Canadian Living and Coup
de pouce, the Green Challenge and Le Défi Vert
are a natural fit for these magazines,” said Natalie
Larivière, President of Transcontinental Media.”
The magazines are packed with many practical tips to keep
homes and communities eco-friendly such as:
- Switch five of your most used lights to Energy Star qualified
compact fluorescent bulbs and cut more than $30 per year
from your hydro bill.
- Improve your furnace’s energy efficiency by up
to 50 per cent by simply cleaning or replacing its filter
every two months.
- Save fuel by shifting to cruise control when driving
on highways. Accelerating while driving wears down your
engine and tires and isn’t fuel-efficient.
- Place plants around your house. They can cut indoor air
pollutants by more than half.
“While over 13,000 Canadians have already signed up
for the Green Challenge and Le Défi Vert, we expect
many more to sign up in the coming weeks,” added Natalie
Larivière. “If each and everyone who signs up
actually takes part in the daily challenge, the sum of these
individual actions will have a significant impact on environment.”
The two Transcontinental Media magazines are also showing
their commitment to the environment in other ways. Canadian
Living’s April issue was the first major women’s
magazine to be printed on Ancient Forest Friendly recycled
paper and Coup de pouce now assigns a green logo
to its consumer product reviews if it considers the product
to be environmentally friendly.
Through its women's magazines, Transcontinental reaches
more than 6.5 million Canadians every month. In total, Transcontinental
Media publishes 44 magazines and periodicals with a monthly
readership of 11.3 million in English and French Canada
and the United States, with a total annual circulation of
105 million copies.
