Montreal, October 16, 2006 – Today, in
Chicago, at the Graph Expo & Converting Expo trade fair,
the founder and executive chairman of the board of Transcontinental,
Rémi Marcoux, was formally inducted into the Printing
Impressions/RIT Printing Industry Hall of Fame. Sponsored
by the magazine Printing Impressions and the Rochester Institute
of Technology, the Hall of Fame has announced the addition
of four new leaders from the printing industry every year
for the past 21 years. Rémi Marcoux is the second Canadian
to receive this honour.

In his acceptance speech, Rémi Marcoux
thanked the organizers of the event and congratulated his
three other co-inductees. Then he said: “ This honour
also goes to Transcontinental and all our employees. In fact,
through me, you are paying tribute to them. While customers
are the reason why companies are in business, employees are
the reason for their success.”
He ended with a strong vote of confidence in the future of
the printing industry: “With the advent of new digital
media, advertising personalization and technological change,
the North American printing industry is going through a profound
transformation. Globalization is another new reality that
we have to deal with. But I believe that we will rise to meet
these new challenges, just as we have always done in the past,
and ensure our success over the long term. Gutenberg can rest
easy.”
