Transcontinental has always been an active
player in the communities in which it operates, allocating
part of its profits every year to support worthy causes. The
Corporation participates by making direct donations or by
offering free printing and distribution services (through
Publisac) and advertising space in its publications.
Transcontinental focuses on the critical areas of health,
education, culture and community development.
Here are a few of the causes
we have supported in recent years:
In the area of healthcare, Transcontinental supports a number
of hospitals and research centres, including the Canadian
Cancer Society, the Clinical Research Institute of Montreal,
the Montreal Heart Institute, the Montreal General Hospital,
the Montreal Sacré-Cœur Hospital, the Centre Hospitalier
Pierre-Boucher, the Montreal Children’s Hospital and
the Sainte-Justine Children’s Hospital.
In education, several Quebec universities benefit from various
types of assistance from Transcontinental, including HEC Montréal,
through the Chair in Arts Management, and the University of
Sherbrooke. In Ontario, we support the School of Graphic Communications
at Ryerson University in Toronto. Transcontinental was also
one of the three main sponsors of the Institut des communications
graphiques de Montréal.
In terms of social, cultural and environmental support,
Transcontinental has donated to Centraide of Greater Montreal;
the International Centre for Conflict Resolution and Mediation
(“Vers le pacifique” program); the ACTI-MENU Health
Program (an organization that encourages people to quit smoking);
Sun Youth and Portage; Les Impatients, a foundation for art
therapy and outsider art in Quebec; the Montreal Symphony
Orchestra; the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts; and several theatres,
including Espace Go and Théâtre du Nouveau Monde.
